Meet Theresa Skelton DMD

Going back to school after practicing general dentistry for seven years was difficult, but it was the best decision I have ever made. Orthodontics has changed my life, giving me the ability to run my own business and serve my patient base with professionalism, kindness, and empathy. I have made friendships that I will treasure for life much as, I hope, my patients treasure their new smiles!

~ Dr. Theresa Skelton

Background and Education

Growing up in Rosedale, Mississippi, Dr. Theresa Skelton knew she wanted to work in the dental field in 8th grade. Dental school was her goal from her first day in high school. She attended the University of Mississippi, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then obtained her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1995, at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry.

Following dental school, Dr. Skelton practiced general dentistry for seven years, gaining an invaluable understanding of oral health conditions. As a result of seeing how some patients struggled with issues associated with their bite, as well as discomfort with the appearance of their teeth, she decided to return to school. Accepted into the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center, Dr. Skelton completed her post-doctorate Orthodontic Residency and received a Master’s of Science degree in 2003.

In Practice

Having practiced orthodontics for 20 years, Dr. Skelton has thrived in the specialty. She appreciates having the ability to change a person’s life through orthodontic treatment. Beyond creating confidence by giving individuals beautiful smiles, she is able to make lasting, positive improvements in people’s oral health and function.

Dr. Skelton is proud of the team she has assembled at TLS Orthodontics. Her staff is friendly, professional, loyal, and treat each other like family. Together they have celebrated marriages, birthdays, the arrival of babies, and all other aspects of life.

The feeling of family extends to the TLS Orthodontics patients and their families. Dr. Skelton and her staff truly care about their patients, love hearing what is going on in their lives, and are as concerned about their happiness as their oral health.

The practice believes in giving back to causes important to their patient family. In addition to supporting the local schools, TLS Orthodontics also supports Delta Cotton Belles, which provides assistance and support to those experiencing breast cancer.
